The Psychology of a Sales Funnel

March 16, 20233 min read

Here's the cold, hard truth: Websites are OUT — Funnels are IN!

Here’s why: Funnels are SIMILAR to a website, but MUCH better at selling your product/service.

You can still have a website (I do, too). But it’s not where I send people who are interested in my offer…

Why? Because your funnel is the superior salesman…

Here's WHY:

The Psychology of a Sales Funnel

& why they convert more than websites

1 | There are Less Options to Choose From

Human behavior tells us that... when presented with more than 1 or 2 options, humans are more likely to choose none.

Funnels force people to make ONE decision at a time. Move forward or stay put (depending on their interests)

Websites give viewers many buttons and pages to scroll through, with different call to actions to choose from

Which means that reducing the number of decisions your audience has to make (using a funnel) will increase conversions

2 | Easier to Develop Trust

Human behavior tells us that... People are more likely to trust your products & services if they get to know you first

Funnels allow you to tailor your story to the framework of your offer to relate to your audience

and enable you to collect emails so that you can connect with your audience

Which means that you are able to build trust with your audience more quickly by providing deeper connection & value

3 | Speak to Specific Pain-Points

Human behavior tells us that... people have a compulsive desire to be understood and to fit in, and the small, casual messaging is often more powerful motivators than vague and dramatic statements.

Funnels are more specific & can relate on a deeper, more personal level using a few specific pain-points - small frustrations, daily routines, shared opinions.

Websites offer more than one thing, making this kind of messaging to be less effective.

Which means that you are able to foster greater customer loyalty & community around your offer thus increasing sales
